A tour around the island of Tahiti with Flat Stanley and Flat Hal

Captain Cook visited Tahiti several times, and one of the places we visited had several monuments, including one to him, and one related to the Mutiny on the Bounty. Do you know about Captain Cook? The ship The Bounty? Their stories have captured the imaginations of generations, and are one of the reasons Tahiti is famous.

Tahiti is somewhere lots of people dream of visiting. Our guide mentioned only 250,000 tourists come to Tahiti each year. Toronto had an estimated 30 million tourists visit in 2023. Prince Edward Island had closer to 1 million, a reminder of the difference between a major city that is easy to access versus a smaller island that takes more effort to reach.

Prince Edward Island is considerably closer, and easier to reach, requiring less
travel time to get to than French Polynesia, which might be one of the reasons so few people (comparatively) make it to Tahiti.

Plan an imaginary trip to French Polynesia. How would you get here? How long would it take to travel? How long would you spend on the islands? Ferries connect Papeete to Moorea, for instance, would you stay on one island most of the time, and take short day trips to nearby islands? What would you hope to see and do?

Touring Tahiti by Bus

Flat Stanley met some old acquaintances on the bus tour of Tahiti. They thanked him for helping make memories on previous trips! After that the flat fellas visited Point Venus (and got a nice photo at the lighthouse) then went to the gardens.
