Do you and your friends ever “jinx” one another? Jinxing is a little like superstitions. Being concerned if you do something, or say something, it will have negative consequences. In this case Flat Hal has been trying not to jinx himself by referring to this trip in a way that implies he will never get to come to these places again.
Instead, he is trying to appreciate coming for the first time, sharing the adventure with Flat Stanley and myself, seeing places on his bucket list (a list of places he has always dreamed of going), and most of all looking for ways to enjoy and make the most of each moment.
As we settled in to our cabin, we watched others sail off on their own adventures, and looked forward to our own.
